How To Do Spring In Boston

How To Do Spring in Boston

After the long, dark winter, Boston in the spring is like a whole different city. The sun’s out, daffodils are popping and there’s always something fun on the horizon. Whether it’s the start of outdoor festivals or Fenway coming alive again, we’ve got the ultimate guide to the city this time of year.

Red Sox Opening Day

The Red Sox Home Opener is the unofficial start of spring, weather be damned. There’s nothing like stepping into Fenway Park after the long winter, grabbing a wicked overpriced beer and dreaming of a perfect season ahead (before reality sets in and you remember spring baseball is cold AF).

Hanging Nasturtiums

Spring in Boston is a delicate balance of soaking up the welcome sunshine while not freezing your face off. Lucky for us, the city has plenty of options to keep that balance. Take advantage of all the free museum days happening this season. Don’t forget the obligatory trip to the Gardner to see those infamous bright orange blooms.

Return of the Swan Boats

Speaking of traditions, spring in Boston isn't complete without a visit to the Public Garden to see the legendary Swan Boats back in action. They return on April 18th, coinciding with Easter and a little running event our city is known for.

Marathon Monday

The Boston Marathon isn’t just a race, it’s a kickoff to the season. It’s that perfect mix of daffodils, community and pure Boston energy that we look forward to every April. Need some inspo for the day? Check out our guide to Marathon Monday.

Festival Season

Festival season is back and we couldn't be more excited. Live music at our favorite outdoor venues, dancing in the sunshine, delicious bites from our favorite food trucks — what's not to love? Check out our list of upcoming festivals and start making those plans.

Grab a Bite

The in-between seasons have us torn between staying cozy and chasing that rare sunshine. Luckily, heated outdoor spots are here to save the day, offering the perfect mix of warmth and vibes. We’ve rounded up our favorite heated patios, greenhouses and igloos so you can dine out without freezing your butt off.

Now that the weather's warming up, fuel your adventures with good food. Ignore the 'summer body' hype; we just want bomb food that gives us the energy to dance all night at our favorite venue. Consider these fresh options from our favorite healthy spots around Boston.

Get Outside

With warmer days and longer nights, now’s the perfect time to catch a sunset. Boston is full of amazing spots to watch the sun dip below the horizon. Every evening offers a new view, so head to one of these sunset spots and see the city in a whole new light.

What’s better than spring? Enjoying the fresh air with your pup, of course! From parks to patios, Boston’s got plenty of spots for dog lovers to explore. Check out our ulti-mutt (couldn’t resist) dog-friendly guide, leash up and get outside to soak up the sunshine with your best friend.
